Memphis is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, located in the southwest corner of the state. At the confluence of Arkansas, Mississippi, & Tennessee, it is situated just on Chickasaw Bluffs just above Mississippi River. Memphis, Tennessee, is the state’s second-largest metropolitan region and the state’s most populated metropolis. Besides the Arkansas suburb of West Memphis, the major Memphis suburbs includes Arlington, Bartlett and Collierville in Tennessee ; Horn Lake, Olive Branch and Southaven in Mississippi, in addition to Germantown, Lakeland and Millington in Tennessee. An area of 295 sqmi (764 square km). For the years 2000 and 2010, Memphis had a population of 646,889 and a metro area population of 1,316,100, respectively.

Because of its strategic position, Memphis has grown to be one of the nation’s major hubs for distribution. One of America’s biggest inland river ports and the world’s second-busiest cargo airport are just two of the city’s many accomplishments in logistics and transportation. The prominence of the business is bolstered by extensive rail & highway connections as well as the headquarters of important freight organisations. As a significant cotton market, Memphis is also a global leader in hardwood trade, and soybean processing. The city contains agricultural research & food processing enterprises and supports an agricultural region known for cattle, cotton, corn (maize), soybeans,  feed grains, or forest products. A major wholesale centre is located here. Electronics, medical equipment, or paper products are examples of manufactured goods. It’s not only the manufacturing sector that makes up the bulk of the economy. The health science centre of UT is also located in Memphis. Memphis is home to numerous colleges and universities.
