Memphis is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States, located in the southwest corner of the state. At the confluence of Arkansas, Mississippi, & Tennessee, it is situated just on Chickasaw Bluffs just above Mississippi River. Memphis, Tennessee, is the state’s second-largest metropolitan region and the state’s most populated metropolis. Besides the Arkansas suburb of West Memphis, the major Memphis suburbs includes Arlington, Bartlett and Collierville in Tennessee ; Horn Lake, Olive Branch and Southaven in Mississippi, in addition to Germantown, Lakeland and Millington in Tennessee. An area of 295 sqmi (764 square km). For the years 2000 and 2010, Memphis had a population of 646,889 and a metro area population of 1,316,100, respectively.
